 Separation
Scientific, a company incorporated in 1987 in partnership
with a JSE listed Company (JASCO LTD) which was also the
parent of the Company S.A. Scientific Products. SASP went on
to become the Scientific Group whereupon SepSci was
dissolved and became a part of SG.
In 1992 Greg bought SepSci out of the Jasco Group.
Separation Scientific CC initially was run from Greg’s home
until 1993 when it was moved to the offices in Honeydew. In
all these years everyone who was involved worked very hard
developing and growing the business. The company supplied
lab equipment from Sorvall, Genelabs, NEN and Pharmacia
Biotech to various Labs in South Africa. The company
initially employed 3 people and a year later it had grown to
8 staff members and branches opened in Cape Town and Durban.
Today it has a 70 strong workforce and is still growing!!
Separation Scientific now has 7 companies that form the
Sepsci Group.
In 1995 an export drive was started and operations began in
Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. Further activities were
developed later and offices were set up in Mozambique and
Mauritius. Some other Countries are approached through local
agents.
In 1998 the company decided to set up Sepsci Technical
Services, a company that was formed to accommodate the
service needs of the systems sold by SepSci but also to
provide OEM service to other, smaller distributors within
the South African laboratory market. The Company is wholly
owned by the same owners as Separation Scientific.
All of the engineers employed in this Company have advanced
engineering qualifications and are certified by the
manufacturers on whose products they have been trained, as
approved and competent. The activities embarked upon by this

- Routine Preventative Maintenance scheduling and
servicing
- Emergency calls outs for down instruments
- Calibration and certification for accredited
laboratories
- Installation and training for new instruments

Through the years, SepSci has acquired Companies and shares
in Companies operating in the Laboratory Medicine,
Biotechnology and Analytical Laboratory markets. The
activities in these Companies have enabled us to expand our
service support base as well as gain experience by working
with the management of acquired Companies. SepSci recently
sold off some of the operations acquired over the years,
enabling us to focus more exclusively into core activities,
as well as gain significant financial strength.
This Company focuses on the analytical laboratory market and
has proven to be a significant competitor with substantial
market share in most of the focus areas in which it
operates.

SepSci Group of Companies now operates in 11 Countries
around Southern Africa and a further 5 Countries in Central
and West Africa, in Mauritius & Madagascar.
The Group employs more than 70 people in and around Southern
Africa, including 18 sales personnel, 14 service personnel,
logistics management and personnel and finance and
administration personnel
